CBCT Scans for Perio
Cone beam CT scans can be taken for patients with periodontal disease. We can take whole jaw scans for generalised periodontitis, or sectional scans for localised periodontitis. These can be used to trace the exact bone levels, and specifically the difference in bone level on the buccal and lingual aspects of teeth, which cannot be easily determined from traditional 2-dimensional x-rays.
The scans are extremely useful to show boney defects in localised periodontal disease and is a very useful tool when planning periodontal surgery.
This can also be used for crown lengthening procedures to determine the exact position of the bone.
